newMama asked:

My daughter has been having this on going rash under neck and behind her knees for several weeks now. We have tried every over the counter cream, and as a last resort to try and figure out what is agitating her sking, our dr. put her on nystatin cream. I was a little surprised, because it does not look like yeast to me, but I my self have never had a yeast infection. It is not in her diaper area at all??? She does not have trush either. Ever since she started the Nystatin cream, her neck looks worse??? I have been told by others that if it were yeast, would have atleast seen some improvement by now, 1 weeks of using it,and that because it is getting worse, I should discontinue the use of the nystatin???? Has anyone else had a little one with skin issues like this, and what did you use…

FYI, I bathe her everyday in warm, softened water, with Aveeno baby products, dry her well, (J&J gives her a rash also), I have used all the aveeno products, penaten, plain zin oxide cr., pet. jelly, etc. The only thing I haven’t tried is the low-dose hydro-cortisone, as I noticing through other ppls reactions, that is a no no???? We all use expensive, dye free, perfume free, etc laundry detergent????

What is the best way to get our 8 month old to STOP waking up every hour at night? HELP?

March 11th, 2008
Just Mama asked:

We have been co sleeping since our baby was a couple of months old. We tried at first to get him to sleep in the co sleeper/bassinet next to our bed. He refused and cried on and off ALL NIGHT refusing to go to sleep. Also, same thing in the day. He would literally go all day without sleeping even as a newborn, if we put him in the bassinet. So, we decided to let him sleep with me in the bed so that #1 He could finally get some sleep and #2 I could finally get some sleep. Well, even as a sleeper in the family bed, he still is very restless, wakes up and stirs frequently through the night. The only thing that puts him back to sleep is the ****. Sometimes, I can rock him to sleep but it doesn’t always work. I AM EXHAUSTED. I have now gone 8 months with no more than an hour of sleep at a time. Sigh. With no hope of him changing around the corner, we are wondering what to do? He eats solids 3 X a day, takes 2 regular naps a day (in our bed) of 30 minutes and the next one about 2 hours, goes to bed at 7 and wakes up around 5:30 AM….with of couse, the many wake ups through the night. It is like he WANTS to go back to sleep but cannot self soothe himself back to sleep with my ****. Due to stern advice from family and friends to let him “cry it out” we have tried that several times, but no improvement. He cries for HOURS, finally falls asleep and then STILL wakes up again an hour later and we have to go through the whole process again. I asked this question last month and a lot of people said that I should let him cry it out. But, all night? He literally will cry all night! I do not think that is healthy both physically and mentally for an 8 month old to cry all night like that. So, the question I ask is, “HELP!” What do I do?” Any suggestions are helpful….I just won’t do the cry it out thing for HOURS but if you know of any ways to do a more modified approach, please let me know. Thanks!

What is your opinion on the “Left-Hand” and “Right-Hand” paths?

March 2nd, 2008
Spiral asked:

I realize that Wikipedia isn’t always the best source to get information, but I think it quickly sums up the values of each of these paths:

“Modern definitions of “Right-Hand Path” elevate spirituality, the strict observance of moral codes, and the worship of deities. The intent of “Right-Hand Path” belief systems is to attain proximity to divinity, or integration with divinity.

“Conversely, the “Left-Hand Path” belief systems value the advancement and preservation of the self, as well as the pursuit of terrestrial goals. These goals are achieved either by seeking the guidance of one or more deities via theistic practices, or more commonly, via non-theistic uses of instincts and logic.”

I’m not too fond of labels, but I found it is sometimes just easier to tell others that my beleifs and values resemble that of the Left-Hand path, when I’m trying to explain. The Left-Hand path focuses on improvement and, in my opinion, realism, where as the Right’s goal seems to on put all focus on something else aside from the self.

Some people will disagree, but I do not think that the Left-Hand path is “worshiping” oneself or that it has to deal only with Satanism (LaVeyan Satanism, which is non-theistic, seems to come up a lot when speaking of the Left-Hand path), which I certainly do not consider myself.

But all in all, I see the two as nothing more than labels and categories to put beleifs under.

I’m curious on what others think.
What is your opinion on each?
What does your religion (or lack of) have to do with each, if at all?
Offensive? Please elaborate…

If you are speaking of the “literal left-handed people are evil” idea, it is mostly seen as a silly and ignorant idea these days. I doubt many people still think that.
