June 29th, 2008
Autumn_sky asked:

I immigrated to the USA when i was 8 years old. My English is okay. However, I sometimes feel i need some improvement. By the way, I’m 21 years old.
I applied for a job, and it requires me to teach English to 2 Spanish kids. they speak little or no English at all…
Should I do it? I’m afraid my English is not good enough. Please help.
I mean, I’m not an ESL student…I do okay on my college essays and essay exams. In fact, i get mostly Bs without anyone’s help. I wish I could do better though. :( Maybe this is just low self-esteem
So..do I have the ability to teach English?

BREAKING NEWS !!!

LEGISLATIVE ALERT !!!

The Americans With No Abilities Act

Washington , DC - (Dateline February 18, 2009)

President Barack Obama and the Democrat-controlled Congress are considering sweeping legislation that will provide new benefits for many Americans. The Americans With No Abilities Act (AWNAA) is being hailed as a major legislative goal by advocates of the millions of Americans who lack any real skills, knowledge or ambition.

“Roughly 50 percent of Americans do not possess the intelligence, competence and drive necessary to carve out a meaningful role for themselves in society,” said California Senator Barbara Boxer - Democrat. “We can no longer stand by and allow People of Inability

(POI) to be ridiculed, passed over for promotions, or even worse - fired - for no reason except for their lack of any ability or motivation to do any given job. With this legislation, employers will no longer be able to grant special favors to a small group of workers, simply because they have some idea of what they are doing or a willingness to learn it.”

In a Capitol Hill press conference, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi - Democrat, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid - Democrat - pointed to the success of the U.S. Postal Service, which has a long-standing

policy of providing opportunity without regard to performance.

Approximately 74 percent of postal employees lack any job skills, making this agency the single largest U.S. employer of Persons of Inability. Harry Reid pointed also to the public school system as another long-time leader in the field of providing secure employment opportunities to POI.

Private-sector industries with good records of non-discrimination against POI include retail sales (72%), the airline industry (68%), and home improvement warehouse stores (65%). At the state government level, highway public works departments, and the Department of Motor Vehicles both have excellent records of hiring Persons of Inability (93%).

Under AWNAA, more than 25 million mid-level positions will be created, with important-sounding titles but little real responsibility, thus providing an illusory sense of purpose and performance while building self-esteem and providing more candidates who will eventually be promoted into actual senior management positions with even higher salaries and even fewer actual responsibilities.

Mandatory non-performance-based raises and promotions will be given so as to guarantee upward mobility for even the most unremarkable or unproductive employees. The legislation provides substantial tax breaks to corporations that promote a significant number of Persons of Inability into middle-management positions, and gives a tax credit to other businesses that agree to hire one clueless worker for every two talented hires. Utility and cable companies, followed closely by computer customer support departments, are lobbying to have past such hires become eligible for these tax incentives.

Finally, the AWNAA contains tough new measures to make it more difficult to discriminate against the non-abled, banning, for example, such blatantly discriminatory interview questions such as, “Do you have any particular skills, knowledge or experience that relate to this job?”

“As a Non-abled person, I can’t be expected to keep up with people who have something going for them,”said Mary Lou Gertz, who lost her position as a lug-nut twister at the GM plant in Flint, Michigan, due to her chronic inability to remember “rightey tightey, lefty loosey.” Gertz added, “I shouldn’t have to be a rocket scientist to keep my job and this new law should be real good for people like me.” With the passage of this bill, Gertz and millions of other untalented citizens will finally see a light at the end of the tunnel and be able to secure well-paying, tenured jobs just like other people who simply are more motivated and productive but otherwise identical to workers such as Gertz.

Said Senator **** Durbin (Democrat-IL), “As a Senator with no abilities, I believe the same privileges and benefits that elected officials enjoy ought to be extended to every other American with no abilities. It is our duty as lawmakers to provide each and every American citizen, regardless of his or her inadequacy, with some sort of space to take up in this great nation and a good salary for doing so.”

“You’re supposed to sit on your *** and nod at stupid things.
Man, that’s hard to do.”

Rock and Roll Myths?

June 22nd, 2008
Jake5282 asked:

Not a joke, but I know my friends will like this…

ROCK AND ROLL MYTHS…………..

1: ‘Mama’ Cass choking on a sandwich
When ‘Mama’ Cass Elliot died in her London flat in 1974 at the age of 32, a hasty postmortem suggested she had choked on her own vomit while chomping a sandwich in bed. At 5′ 5″ and 240 pounds, it was easy to believe that - like a female version of Monty Python’s Mr Creosote - Elliot had simply gambled on one mouthful too many. Not so. The coroner’s report after her death concluded that Cass died of massive heart failure, brought on by obesity and the strains of crash dieting. Though a sandwich may well have been found at her bedside, the autopsy revealed no evidence of food in her trachea. Tragically, it appears she died peckish.

2: Marilyn Manson starring in ‘The Wonder Years’
This fuels every parent’s fear that the most innocuous geek-child can go stone bad. Did the young Brian Warner (aka Mr Manson) play Paul Pfeiffer, goofy pal of Kevin Arnold, in the schmaltzy rites-of passage TV show? ‘It’s kind of irrelevant whether these rumours are true or not,’ quoth Manson. Well actually, Marilyn, it’s not irrelevant to Josh Saviano, who really did play Paul Pfeiffer.
3: The Beatles’ spliff in Buckingham Palace
Sometime after our four young heroes bounced into the Palace in October 1965 to receive their MBEs, John Lennon claimed they’d shared a toke in the loos. Not the most reliable witness - he once claimed he wrote ‘Eleanor Rigby’ - Lennon later ‘fessed up, admitting ‘we’d have been far too scared to do it’. McCartney, meanwhile, remembers simply having a ’sly ciggie’ with the chaps to calm nerves.
4: Keef’s blood transfusion
Keen to clean up for a European tour, Richards reportedly replaced his poisoned old claret with an infusion of healthy blood in a Swiss clinic in September 1973. In reality, it was probably only haemodialysis, which filters impurities from the bloodstream. ‘Someone asked me how I cleaned up, so I said I had my blood completely changed,’ Richards said. ‘I was fucking sick of answering that question, so I gave them a story.’
5: Stevie Nicks having cocaine blown up her bum
It’s tempting to believe Fleetwood Mac’s queen bee followed her addiction to such deliciously depraved depths - but sadly, untrue. ‘That’s absurd,’ said Nicks in 2001. ‘Maybe it came about because people knew I had such a big hole in my nose. Let’s put a belt through my nose, because that’s how big the hole is.’ So she just talks through her arse, then. Maybe.
6: Robert Johnson’s pact with the devil
Famously, Johnson sold his soul to the devil in order to play guitar like a demon. You want prima facie evidence? How about ‘Me and the Devil Blues’, and the fact that young Robert was a poor guitarist whose improvement was remarkable. Actually, he used that little known voodoo technique ‘practice’, and was tutored by a bluesman called Ike Zimmerman. Not Satan.
7: Jacko and the elephant man
Reports surfaced in 1987 that Wacko had offered $50,000 for the remains of the Victorian patient Joseph Merrick, aka the Elephant Man. The offer may have been genuine, but Jackson doesn’t own the bones. Merrick’s organs were destroyed in an air raid on the Royal London Hospital during the Second World War. Casts of his head, an arm and a foot survived, but were not up for sale.
8: Sid checks in at Heathrow
Punk romantics believe that Sid’s mum scattered his ashes over Nancy’s grave in Philadelphia. It’s more likely that Ma Vicious arrived back at Heathrow with his remains. Malcolm McLaren claims she knocked them over in the arrivals lounge; hence the fanciful myth that Sid’s essence still circulates, wafting through the air vents and moving among the travellers.
9: Richey Edwards lives
Ten years on, Richey’s disappearance remains imbued with a Lucan-like mythology by those who love a good mystery. Given the extent of his problems - self-harm, alcoholism, anorexia - and the fact that numerous sightings have amounted to nothing, it’s safe to assume he’s probably no longer alive, sadly. But don’t expect the rumours to evaporate.
10: Led Zep and the mud shark
‘A pretty young groupie with red hair was tied to the bed,’ claimed Stephen Davis in Hammer of the Gods. ‘Led Zeppelin proceeded to stuff pieces of shark into her ****** and rectum.’ Not quite. Zep did catch sharks from the window of their hotel, but the pesce in question was actually a red snapper, while the perpetrator was road manager Richard Cole.
I have added Alstair to my contacts, now I can go make comment about his questions/answers…do not get mad people, get even lol!!!

troubled teen,bossy loud?

June 22nd, 2008
Sandy G asked:

she’s 16,sexually active, can’t get along with her brothers or sisters missing school, demanding, very opinionated and she can’t see she is self centered and that the world revolves around her. i had to involve family members and have a sit down session which took about 3hrs to no improvement or progress in her current situation. My family took her into my home with the intent to resolve some of the personal issues with sex, demanding personality,i cant confirm the skunk smell in our kids bathroom after her use and leaving the exhaust fan running with the doors closed. non the less i cant let an outside force ruin the basic family house rule that have been established with my own kids. i have no other option to let her get a reality check at the group home. I’m not sure that the group home will solve it as well, change needs to come from her own heart. We’ve had a sit down talk, set a positive home environment had to work a little around her school schedule, she can’t admit fault or apologize to her sisters or brothers. out of options….

Is there any way to treat twitches in a puppy with distemper?

June 18th, 2008
shawna e asked:

We adopted a small beagle mix puppy when he was 1 month he is now going on three months. We noticed that he had sneezing, and a little cough so we took him to the vet. They put him on antibiotics and told us to watch for improvement and to bring him back in if he started showing signs of twitching in the mouth or the “gum chewing” mouth movement. We started him on the antibiotics and a day later he was back to his old self, cough, runny nose, goopy eyes, all gone. He has not had diarrhea or vomit issues at all. His appetite is up and he is eating and drinking plenty. A day later he started having twitching in his right front paw. It has not stopped for 4 days now and continues. We know that the distemper has moved into the nuerological stage, we just want to hear from people who have dealt with this disease of whether or not there is something we can do to stop the twitching or ease it while he is sleeping. We took him back to the vet and they put him on more antibiotics but all symptoms have gone away except the twitching. We are hoping he is able to sleep through it. We want to help him in every way possible.

Can someone please edit my essay?

June 9th, 2008
Catwoman asked:

As a single mother, I have been confronted with, and have successfully overcame issues such as poverty, financial hardships, homelessness, and single parenting. Consequently, I have become committed to helping others achieve personal growth as well as the general well-being of individuals . I have worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds who were facing issues such as homelessness, living with a disability, aging, mental illness, and raising a child as a single parent. As a result of my own personal experiences, I am able to relate to the constant despair and frustration experienced by those who find it challenging to cope with everyday life. I am convinced that increasing one’s own sense of empowerment can make the difference between a future of despondency and one filled with hope.
I am applying to the Master’s in Social Work Program, because it is a step forward in pursuing my life’s mission: helping others in embracing their inner potential to make a positive life transition. Preparation to acheive my personal goal began while I worked at Harbor View Adolescent Center as a Youth Counselor. My primary work responsibility was to serve as a positive role model for adolescents between the ages twelve to eighteen. The adolescents encountered issues such as physical and sexual abuse, abandonment, drug and alcohol abuse, bulimia, depression, and severe behavioral problems. At times, the position was extremely stressful; however, I discovered that I had the ability to connect with the adolescents and develop strong emotional ties. While working with them, I focused on several areas of treatment, including social skills, vocational skills, and independent living skills. My main ambition was to help them build their self-esteem and improve their sense of security. As a youth counselor , I have gained valuable experience in listening to people and helping them make positive decisions in order to improve the quality of their lives. My career goal specifically targets the vulnerable and oppressed individuals who will benefit from improvement in their quality of life. I want to ensure that these groups of individuals have opportunity for services, resources, and much needed guidance.
Personal Strengths: There are several aspects of my personal strengths that I can bring to the field of social work. I am highly caring in regards to other individual needs and feelings. I also speak Spanish fluently and by bringing my bi-lingual ability to the field of social work I can help meet the needs of Spanish speaking clients.
Academic Strengths: As far as my administration abilities, I am very efficient with reports, quarterlies, and paperwork documentation.
Leadership Strengths: I received an outstanding award for being a “Change Leader in 2008″ for improving the quality of lives of the residents that I serve. I am a diligent hard worker in making sure that their needs were met.

overweight and can’t part with the food?

June 2nd, 2008
Vineda asked:

basically. if i stop eating for a day (as in, eat hardly anything, not starve myself) i will straight away lose weight. If I eat very little for 2-3 days, i will see a huge improvement already. my body’s just really good at that. BUT here’s the problem I can’t keep off the junk food for long enough! it’s not a problem of not being able to lose weight because I know if i just lay of the junk for a couple of days i’ll shrink. but i just don’t have that self-control! even if i could hold back for a week or 2 but i cant.

Help!!!
